During the press conference, the President of the USA, addressing directly to Capt. Jacek Siewiera, MD, PhD thanked for the involvement of the Polish medical team and the support of the Americans in the fight against COVID-19.
Efforts to develop innovative techniques to combat the COVID19 virus began with the Military Institute of Medicine's mission to Lombardy and Chicago, Italy. Today we are entering a completely new phase of transatlantic cooperation, in which medicine is becoming the main factor in alliances and strategic challenges around the world. COVID is shaking up the structure of the world and it is our job to prepare our infrastructure to ensure the safety of our citizens. Polish medics commanded by Capt. dr. Jacek Siewiera, the founder of Centrum Ratownictwa, participated in a military-medical mission in Lombardy, Italy - the European epicenter of the coronavirus, in early April, and on April 23, at the request of the US President, they flew to the US to share their knowledge about how way managed to contain the spread of the coronavirus in Lombardy. Both missions were aimed at exchanging experiences on the forms and ways of organizing the national health system in terms of the effectiveness of fighting the epidemic.
